The kitchen at Drimnagh Castle

Easter Sunday. We were not supposed to be sketching. But some of us couldn't resist. Pat has access to Drimnagh Castle. So a few of us turned up. It was a miserable day, weatherwise. I have sketched the castle from the gardens before. It's fantastic. And the great hall inside is amazing, perfect for period movies, of which a few were filmed there, including The Tudors series!

On this occasion, I stayed in the working kitchen, not far from the roaring fire. We all had brought cakes and sweets and biscuits. And each found what we wanted to sketch. Perfect afternoon. Good way to put away all the sadness that's everywhere, even for just an hour or two. I always feel stronger, more energised, after a sketching session.

    1. It is - if you want medieval inspiration for a poem, I can bring you there some time!
