San Francisco, day 1

The only sketch I did on our first full day in San Francisco was breakfast!! Surprisingly, we didn't feel too jetlagged. We both slept quite well, waking up every couple of hours, but feeling chill. Maybe the jellies from the dispensary helped. I would love to get myself some jellies here now that we're back in Ireland, as the jetlag is pretty painful. But we couldn't travel with them, and they're not available here. Maybe some day soon?

We ate our breakfast in Mel's Drive-In (which is not a drive-in on Mission Street, by the way). Brendan had the ham and egg, which is really a huge slice of ham, eggs, fried potatoes and pancakes! I had a sourdough toast with avocado and three poached eggs. Much more reasonable! We enjoyed it immensely, but swore to have lighter breakfasts, as our metabolism can't cope with all the big American food anymore! We planned to have a buffet breakfast in Vegas, but I was sick that morning, so we missed out on it, unfortunately.

So, Mel's Drive-In (another branch of it, I guess) was the scene for American Graffiti, and they had a lot of photos from the shooting of the movie. Pure fifties Americana. Loved it. Could have stayed there longer to sketch more, but we had a days of sight-seeing ahead of us!
