Rocks and waves

Went one the coastal path across from the beach, and worked on location with A3 heavy cartridge paper. It was windier, and more challenging, in terms of stopping paper and ink from flying about. I always carry a few clips to hold the paper on my board. A stone on the ground was used to hold the finished pieces while they were drying. Sumi ink did end up on my beige trousers. It actually washed off better than I thought it would.

It was a bit windy, but not stormy, so no big waves to record (I would have struggled even more). Worked mostly with diluted sumi ink and Gansai Tambi. Added soft pastel later. Went a bit mad with tempera stick and soft pastel for one of them. There's always one.

Most of these works on location will probably end up cropped in my studio book and will inspire future pieces. Though I have to say that I like one or two of them just as they are!
