I keep flip-flopping between representational and abstract. Last year, I did a painting that I really liked. It's taken me this long to come back to the idea. This one doesn't work quite as well. What to do? Push further or pull back? The headland here is, again, Bolus Head, seen from St Finian's Bay. But I think I went too far this time with the sun eating the world idea. Plus I really want to paint with soft edges and this is all hard edges. What to do What to do?
I think I know what the issue is. It was a good idea at the time, a year ago. But now I don't paint like this. Mind you, I didn't paint like this a year ago either. It was so different from anything I do, or did. Oh I'm confused! And also forgetful apparently. I had the same epiphany 3 days ago, about the same view!! I had completely forgotten.
