Debenhams

I really love this location - Debenhams on Henry Street has two cafés overlooking the city, with great views to sketch. I chose the lower level, with the Costa Café. But I got bogged down in detail and it didn't work the way I had envisioned, with heavy watercolour and a dull effect.

I did paint a second, looser, version. But I'm not crazy about it either. The only thing I like is the sky, painted with Cerulean Blue Chromium and Potter's Pink!!

Next time, I'm going to the higher level and paint the overall cityscape! Check out what the other Dublin Sketchers did from there!
