Sometimes, I need to draw realistically to figure out what I want or don't want. Here I worked on grey paper with sumi ink applied with a Kakimori dip pen. Then, I applied white lumocolor pencil for highlights. I needed to do that so I could understand the volumes better. I'm working from a photo I took in Allihies last April or May. There are a lot of jagged rocks between where I was standing and the ocean. I'm still trying to understand how I want to express this jaggedness. I don't want this much detail
The second piece is the complete opposite. I applied some neoart then painted in watercolour. Definitely not enough detail. Has this exercise helped me to understand what I want?
