India Day in Dublin

We sketched at a celebration of India Day in Merrion Square in mid-August. The big event in Farmleigh was cancelled due to security fears after racist attacks on members of the Indian community in Ireland. Everything ran smoothly for this smaller event, thankfully. I had just brought some markers with me, as my usual gear was all packed up, ready to go the Urban Sketchers Symposium in Poland. It turned out to be perfect for action sketches of the dancers on stage, all done from direct observation, while they were performing. I never see the point of drawing from a photo, that's just copying from a photo.

Yes, I know, there is a flamenco dancer in there. I have no idea what she was doing there. But she was very glamorous and fun to sketch!

No time for backgrounds or foregrounds. I was only interested in the dancers. And a little girl in yellow and red in the row in front of me. She was staring at me!
