I continue to follow this nudge, or is it a side-quest?
Moved from smooth to rough paper for some of these (smooth is a Clairefontaine mix media paper from a set of 4 different textures, but I have no idea which one this was. The rough paper is Arches). ArtGraf in the tin and Daniel Smith Lunar Black are definitely the winners, with Schmincke granulating watercolours also giving very interesting effects.
Another thing I want to try is adding some clay to the mix. Someone gave me clay a few months ago. Now is the time to try it out!
And also, using a pipette to apply paint and or water.
