While we're having our week of summer here in Ireland, I'm obsessing about dark clouds and rain. But I'm finding that Holbein's Indigo is not working for me. The drying shift is huge and is leading to very disappointing results. Or it's my handling of it? The yellow fields are my impression of rapeseed which I saw from the sky the last time I landed in Ireland and it was so beautiful.
Anyways, in the second painting, I added some Deep Ultramarine to make the sky pop. And also used wax pastel, which really wasn't a good idea on the textured paper!!
Time to move on.
