Done in an A4 Seawhite of Brighton sketchbook. Lots of play with ink (ina-ho - why don't they make it anymore?). Also, lots of Gansai Tambi paint, tempera stick, other inks, splashing, scratching and using found objects to make interesting marks.

Cill Rialaig - Medium concertina sketchbook
Lots of catching up to do. This one is in reverse order. Not sure I will be able to post all the pictures on Instagram. Some pages I reworked more with gouache. Other, I just drew in ink on top of the background (ink and gansai tambi) because I loved the background so much I didn't want to lose it!

Cill Rialaig - small concertina sketchbook 2
Loved the mix of Pilot Iroshizuku Ina-Ho ink and Gansai Tambi. Unfortunately the Ina-Ho ink is no longer made. I will have to look for an alternative.
When I look back at this sketchbook, I feel the land and the ocean, the wind on my face, the absence of people. Bliss.
Cill Rialaig - small concertina sketchbook 1
Concertina sketchbooks look better in real life than in photos. But here is a little glimpse into this practice that gave me a lot of joy while on my art residency in Cill Rialaig. It seemed to express all that I was seeing and feeling.
