We were talking about this with Shelley - when you abandon an idea because the energy is gone, how to move on, and where to start? Well, for me, on this occasion, I painted tulips for about a week. And then I had a look through my Cill Rialaig album in my Google photos and I chose the first photo that pulled me in. Yes, I could have taken a lot longer. I have hundreds of photos. I haven't even put them all into the album yet. But I don't overthink these things. This image with the big cloud called out to me and I stopped there. And I painted it quite realistically (for me). I'm happy with the sky. The land is too dull. Maybe if I lifted some paint off the road, that might be ok. But then, I have to remind myself this is only a starting point. I can zoom in, I can go more abstract. I can use other materials. I can express my feelings. Lots of possibilities. This is a start.
