Where do I start? At the end maybe? Here is the empty room in my cottage at Cill Rialaigh, where I spent two weeks in February, painting and sketching, and complaining about the wind!
What a privilege it was to be awarded this art residency. I felt so lucky to be given this opportunity. Many people apply, but with only 8 cottages/studios, places are limited. It is remote, and not for the faint-hearted. Particularly in February, when the weather can be bleak. It was described to me as magical. I would call it haunting. But the perfect location to switch off from the world and paint paint paint. Cill Rialaig will stay with me, and my work, for a very long time.
I wasn't planning on making any finished paintings while there. That's not how my head or my process works. But I gathered a lot of seeds, did a lot of experimentation and thinking about my art. And now I will see what happens next.
