I think this was the first thing I painted in Cill Rialaig. After seeing a dramatic sunrise, I noticed that the sky settled into a more peaceful aspect. It got quite dull after that. But I had the afterburn of the initial sunrise on my retina, and I kept on painting after this. A lot of what I painted and sketched in Cill Rialaig was about sea, sky and rocks. Which is all there is there, and all I ever want to paint!
One thing I had to overcome was how slow it was for my watercolours to dry. A very humid, damp environment. I had to use my hairdryer a lot.
