I am slowly making progress with Liz Steel's Sketching Now Foundations online course. I seem to have no trouble with the indoor prompts. But I am slower to complete the outdoors assignments! They do require a little more planning, particularly in Ireland in February.
The point of lesson 8 is to find the right balance between line and paint. Whether to use a lot of pen lines to create the darks? Or to use minimum lines and move to watercolours as soon as the basic outline is done? To go for a precise rendition? Or to let the paint move freely?
Well, so far, my main conclusion is that I am not good at hatching and cross-hatching. Not very deep. But useful knowledge all the same.
